You can have family fun just about anywhere such as the lake in the summer, the mountains in the fall and especially Holidays, but let me tell you about the best family fun for me. My mother loves to shop and Belk’s is her favorite store, but she also shops other places with just as much enthusiasm. Since she loves Belk’s we always go on the 1st Tuesday of each month for senior day and to watch her is more fun than Christmas Eve with the grand-babies ripping open their gifts. Why, do you ask? Mom and I spend that day together trying to figuring out who needs what for Christmas. Laughing and holding onto each other as we wobble through each department trying to find that right gift. We are checking out everything and what sales are the best in her opinion and let’s not forget the coupons! Last year my office called because they had a question and wanted to know what I was doing, so I explained I was “marketing” but they knew mom and I were together. They told me not to lie but it was okay if I was shopping for their gift. I again explained I was marketing since I was in the gift wrap line in a discussion with the ladies about my name tag and explained how my agency works with families and their loved ones so they can remain safe and happy in their own home. So technically, I was marketing. It gave me a chance to enjoy the day with mom and also network with so many different people adding the bonus of talking about the love of my life – Home Loving and what we do and how we do. Sharing time with mom and talking about the memory of dad on his favorite time of the year. Christmas mean more to me and her than all the presents in the world. Like many of the daughters and moms we assist, times with mom are very precious moments. I don’t know if I could ever shop on the 1st Tuesday of December again if mom passes because that is our fun day and I would not change it for anything. I love my mom and family and being able to share quality time is very important to all of us. Make sure your goal for 2014 is to share quality time with your mom, dad, or grandparents!!! Wishing you all precious moments with your loved ones on this the first week of the giving seasons.
